At the start of the season, Manchester United set high expectations, but they now find themselves in 13th place in the Premier League, trailing the top four by six points. Their disappointing form led to the departure of coach Erik ten Hag at the end of October, with Ruben Amorim taking over in November.
Since Amorim’s appointment, the team has had mixed results, winning two, drawing one, and losing two in the league. Despite setbacks, including losses to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, they bounced back last weekend with a dramatic 1-2 victory over Manchester City, scoring two late goals. In the Europa League, they are currently in a solid position to qualify for the round of 16.
Bournemouth, initially a surprise this season, now sits in 6th place in the Premier League, just three points behind 4th. Their unexpected success has them eyeing a potential European spot. After a two-match losing streak to Brentford and Brighton, they have returned to form, securing wins over Wolverhampton, Tottenham, and Ipswich, though they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against West Ham last Monday.
For Manchester United, Luke Shaw remains sidelined, and Mount has joined him in the treatment room. The availability of experienced defender Evans is also uncertain. Forwards Garnacho and Rashford are not part of Amorim’s plans. Bruno Fernandes, who has contributed four goals and five assists, and Diallo, with two goals and six assists, are expected to start, while Hojlund and Zirkzee will compete for the central striker position.
Bournemouth will be without defenders Senesi and Araujo, as well as key midfielder Scott and potentially starting wingers Sinisterra and Tavernier. Enes Ünal, who has scored in recent matches, may be paired with Evanilson, who has four Premier League goals, at the front. Semenyo and Kluivert, both of whom have contributed goals, will be available to support the attack.
Prediction
Both teams have been involved in several high-scoring matches this season. Manchester United’s matches have consistently featured over 2.5 goals, while Bournemouth has seen similar results in their limited number of games. Based on recent form, a 2-1 victory for Manchester United seems likely.
