Brighton vs Brentford Prediction: 27/12/2024

Brighton has struggled recently. After drawing 2-2 with low-ranked Leicester and losing 1-3 to Crystal Palace, the Seagulls have earned 2 draws and 2 losses in their last four games. Despite this form, they remain in 9th place in the Premier League, just one point behind the final European qualification spot. Brighton has been inconsistent at home, winning only 3 of their 8 home matches this season. Their next challenge is against West Ham on Saturday.

Brentford, currently 11th in the league, is also facing challenges. After a tough 2-1 loss to Chelsea and a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle, they needed to bounce back against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Brentford has been much stronger at home, where they have won 7 of their 8 matches, but they have yet to secure an away victory, losing 7 of 8 away games.

Brighton has seen the return of key players like right-back Veltman and Danish midfielder O’Riley. However, long-term absentee Webster is still recovering, and other potential starters, including Milner and March, may miss the match. Upfront, Mitoma and Adingra are crucial, contributing to Brighton’s attacking power.

Brentford, meanwhile, faces several injury concerns. They are missing midfielders Jensen and Dasilva, defenders Hickey and Henry, and winger Nunes. Additionally, striker Thiago and defenders van den Berg and Pinnock are doubtful. Despite these issues, Brentford will rely on their top scorers, Wissa and Mbeumo, who have each netted 10 goals this season.

Prediction

In terms of high-scoring games, Brighton has been consistently involved in matches with over 2.5 goals, with 35 consecutive home games seeing goals. Similarly, Brentford has rarely played a dull game, with just one of their last 20 Premier League matches finishing goalless.

Prediction: Brighton 2-2 Brentford.
