Two people, believed to be a married couple, died following a hit-and-run incident in Dublin yesterday.
The incident occurred near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on Blanchardstown Road North around 5:45 PM, when a car struck four pedestrians crossing the road.
A woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man in his 40s, who was seriously injured, later died in the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
A man in his 40s was arrested by gardaí late last night in connection with the incident and is currently being held at a garda station in Dublin.
Following a technical examination of the scene, the road has since reopened. A car has been seized and examined by gardaí.
Authorities have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in hearing from any road users or pedestrians who were in the Blanchardstown Road North area between 5 PM and 6 PM yesterday and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings.
