Man Arrested After Body Found in Wexford

A man has been arrested following the discovery of another man’s body in a house in New Ross, Co. Wexford.

At approximately 11am, Gardaí were called to an incident at the Cluain Fada housing estate, where they found an unresponsive man in his 60s. Despite efforts to assist him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The local coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. The area has been secured for a technical examination. Sources suggest that the deceased may have been assaulted before his death.

A man in his 30s has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. He is currently being held at a garda station in the eastern part of the country under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which permits interrogation for up to 24 hours.

A senior officer has been assigned to lead the investigation, along with a family liaison officer. Gardaí are urging any witnesses or individuals with relevant camera footage, including dashcam footage, to come forward.
