Arrests made in Belfast and Dublin over fatal stabbing

Authorities have arrested two individuals, one in Belfast and another in Dublin, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 34-year-old man in Dublin over the weekend.

The first arrest took place in Belfast when law enforcement officers detained a man as he was preparing to board a ferry bound for Liverpool. Gardaí, conducting an extensive investigation into the murder, had reached out to the PSNI for assistance, which led to the apprehension.

Meanwhile, a second arrest was carried out in Dublin following a series of searches. A man in his 20s was taken into custody in Balbriggan and is currently being held for questioning at Pearse Street Garda Station.

The victim, Quam Babatunde, lost his life after being stabbed on South Anne Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. Reports indicate that the incident followed an altercation between two groups who had been out socializing.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 3 a.m., arriving to find Mr. Babatunde unresponsive with severe injuries. Despite receiving medical attention at the scene and being transported to St. James’s Hospital, he was later pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted, though authorities have chosen not to disclose the findings for operational reasons.

Another man, in his 30s, sustained injuries in the same altercation but was treated in the hospital for non-life-threatening wounds and has since been released. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
