SF’s John Brady to lead Public Accounts Committee

Sinn Féin has announced its leadership appointments for several key Oireachtas committees, marking a significant moment in the party’s parliamentary engagement.

Mairéad Farrell, TD for Galway West, has been nominated to chair the influential Public Accounts Committee (PAC), becoming the first woman to hold this position. Farrell brings a strong background in finance and economics, having previously served as Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Public Expenditure and later on Further and Higher Education. Her appointment follows the resignation of Brian Stanley from the role.

John Brady, representing Wicklow, is set to lead the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach. Matt Carthy, TD for Cavan-Monaghan, will chair the Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration. Maurice Quinlivan, from Limerick City, takes the helm of the Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

Rose Conway-Walsh, TD for Mayo, will oversee the Committee on Defence and National Security. Conor McGuinness, representing Waterford, has been appointed to chair the Committee on Fisheries and Maritime Affairs. Louise O’Reilly, TD for Dublin Fingal West, will lead the Committee on Petitions.
