Eve Hewson Joins George Clooney and Adam Sandler in New Film

Netflix has unveiled its upcoming film “Jay Kelly,” directed by Noah Baumbach and featuring a prominent ensemble cast. The movie is slated for a limited theatrical release on November 14, 2025, followed by a global streaming debut on December 5, 2025.

“Jay Kelly” stars George Clooney and Adam Sandler in leading roles, marking their first collaboration. The cast also includes Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Greta Gerwig, Patrick Wilson, Jim Broadbent, Eve Hewson, Thaddea Graham, and Emily Mortimer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Baumbach. The film is produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman under Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively.

 

Principal photography commenced in March 2024, with filming locations spanning New York City, London, and Tuscany. The cinematography is helmed by Oscar-winner Linus Sandgren, known for his work on “La La Land,” and editing is managed by Valerio Bonelli.

Narrative and Thematic Elements

Described as a “heartbreaking comedy,” the film explores the journey of its titular character, Jay Kelly, portrayed by Adam Sandler. The storyline follows Jay as he navigates personal challenges and self-discovery, with George Clooney playing a significant role in this transformative period. The narrative delves into themes of identity, relationships, and the complexities of adulthood.

Early screenings have generated positive buzz, particularly highlighting Sandler’s performance, which is considered a departure from his typical roles. Industry insiders suggest that his portrayal may garner awards consideration in the upcoming season

 

“Jay Kelly” represents Baumbach’s continued collaboration with Netflix, following previous projects like “Marriage Story” and “White Noise.” The film’s release is anticipated to contribute to Netflix’s diverse slate of original content for the year.
