Girl Dies After Assault in Wexford, Investigation Launched

An investigation is currently underway after a young girl died following an assault in Co Wexford last night.

Emergency services responded to an incident at a house in New Ross at approximately 11:45 pm. The girl was transported to University Hospital Waterford, where she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of the morning. It is believed that she was around eight years old.

A man and a woman, both in their 30s, are also receiving treatment at University Hospital Waterford for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Stake

Gardaí have stated that they are pursuing a specific line of inquiry and are not seeking any additional suspects in connection with the investigation.

The scene remains secured for a forensic examination, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
