Jasprit Bumrah led by example, taking four wickets to help India make a strong comeback in the match after a disappointing performance with the bat. His leadership on the field was crucial as India fought to get back into the game.
Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana also contributed with the ball, taking two and one wicket respectively, leaving Australia in a difficult position after they lost seven wickets for just 67 runs in their first innings.
Earlier, debutant Nitish Reddy’s determined 41 runs and a brief, aggressive knock from Rishabh Pant were the few highlights in an otherwise dismal batting display from India. They were bowled out for just 150 at tea, struggling against a disciplined Australian bowling attack in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.
