Hugo Keenan is set to make his return to action for the first time since Ireland’s November win over Australia, with Leinster confirming his full fitness for Sunday’s Investec Champions Cup match against La Rochelle.
Keenan had sustained a wrist injury during the narrow 22-19 victory over the Wallabies at Aviva Stadium. Leinster announced on Tuesday that he is now available for the trip to France, alongside teammates Jack Conan, Ciarán Frawley, Thomas Clarkson, and Max Deegan.
Conan had been sidelined due to an injury sustained during the Connacht match just before Christmas, while Frawley had dealt with a back issue from the game against Bristol Bears earlier in December. Clarkson has recovered from an arm injury picked up during the win over Clermont, and Deegan has successfully completed the graduated return-to-play protocols.
In a further positive update, Tadhg Furlong has not been entirely ruled out. He is progressing in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury and is set to intensify his recovery efforts this week. A final decision on his participation will be made following further assessments.
Jamie Osborne, Jordan Larmour, and Tommy O’Brien have also returned to action without setbacks after featuring in the Munster game. Meanwhile, Dan Sheehan, who has been recovering from an ACL injury sustained last summer, has resumed on-field training as part of his rehabilitation process.
