Irish singer Linda Nolan has passed away at the age of 65, surrounded by her loving family, following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Born in Dublin, Linda was a member of the iconic family group The Nolans, which included her sisters Coleen, Maureen, Bernie, Denise, and Anne. The Nolans achieved global fame with hits like Gotta Pull Myself Together, Attention to Me, and the disco classic I’m In The Mood for Dancing.
Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and received the all-clear in 2011. However, her cancer returned as secondary breast cancer in 2017, spread further in 2020, and reached her brain by 2023.
In a statement, her manager Dermot McNamara expressed profound sadness at Linda’s passing, highlighting her remarkable career and enduring legacy. He described her as a celebrated Irish pop icon, television personality, Guinness World Record holder, West End star, bestselling author, and columnist.
As a member of The Nolans, Linda achieved extraordinary success, becoming part of the first Irish act to sell over a million records worldwide. The group sold over 30 million records globally and toured extensively, earning their place as one of the most successful girl groups in history. Linda was admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital over the weekend with double pneumonia. Early Tuesday morning, she entered a coma and received end-of-life care surrounded by her family. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, at 10:20 a.m., with her siblings by her side, ensuring she was surrounded by love and comfort in her final moments.
Her manager emphasized Linda’s enduring impact, not only as an entertainer but also as a source of hope and resilience for many. She shared her cancer journey to raise awareness and inspire others.
