Man Arrested Over Woman’s Death in Roscommon

A man in his 30s has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of a woman whose body was discovered in Co Roscommon earlier this week.

He was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and is currently being detained at a garda station in the midlands. Authorities confirmed that he is being questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows for up to 24 hours of interrogation.

The victim, Mirjana Pap, was in her 50s and had been reported missing over the weekend. Her body was found on December 30 at a site in Curraghaleen, near the Co Westmeath border.

Ms. Pap, a Croatian national, had been residing in the Athlone area for several years. She was known in the local community and had adult children.

A missing persons appeal was initially launched to locate her, but it was called off after gardaí discovered her remains in a bog near Clonark, Co Roscommon.
