Murder Inquiry Launched After Woman’s Death in Co Cork

Authorities have launched a murder investigation following the results of a post-mortem examination into the death of a 31-year-old woman.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr. Margot Bolster conducted the examination, which confirmed that Paula Canty, a mother of two originally from Kinsale, had died as a result of foul play. While investigators have not disclosed the full details of the post-mortem findings, it is believed that she suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest.

Ms. Canty’s body was discovered in her apartment at the Belfry on Bridewell Lane in Mallow around midday on Friday after law enforcement received a report about an incident.

The apartment remains secured as forensic experts have conducted a thorough examination over the past two days. Additionally, a second property on Shoulders Lane has been cordoned off for further forensic analysis.

An incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station, and a senior investigative officer has been assigned to lead the case.

Authorities have renewed their appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or mobile footage from the Bridewell Lane area between 9 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday to come forward with any relevant information.
