Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns and her partner Barry Looney have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, who was born this morning at Cork University Maternity Hospital.
Cairns shared the news on her Instagram, writing that “She’s here,” and expressing that she and Barry are “completely in love with her.”
Cairns had revealed in June that she was expecting her first child, sharing the news when she was 17 weeks pregnant. She had waited until after the General Election to announce the pregnancy.
With the birth of their daughter, Cairns will be unable to vote for herself in her bid to keep her seat in the Dáil for Cork South West. The couple has not yet decided on a name for their baby.
