John McDonald, the head chef at Knockrobin Hill Care Home in Wicklow town, has been honored with the 2024 NHI Care Award. This marks the second time that a staff member from Knockrobin Hill Nursing Home has received an NHI Care Award, with activities manager Luke Coughlan winning the award in 2023. Additionally, Knockrobin Hill Care Home has also received a Workplace Excellence Award in 2024.
The NHI Care Awards, organized by Nursing Homes Ireland, recognize and celebrate excellence in care. John McDonald received his award in The Round Room at the Mansion House in Dublin.
John joined the Knockrobin Hill Care Home team in 2021 and has since been a dedicated Head Chef, committed to providing nutritious, restaurant-quality meals to residents and staff. His guiding principle, “If I wouldn’t eat it, I won’t serve it,” highlights his dedication to using healthy, fresh ingredients.
John understands that food plays a crucial role in health and happiness. He emphasizes the importance of fresh, healthy produce and ensures that residents receive proper hydration and balanced meals. He works diligently to cater to the dietary preferences and needs of every resident.
